France is one of Europe’s largest
agricultural nations. Its agricultural
production is highly varied, ranging
from wheat to wine, from rice to sugar
beets. The two film-makers Jörn and
Tammo Gläser have visited the country’s
most interesting regions with their
cameras at various times of year and in
a three-part DVD series they present
cutting-edge agricultural machinery set
off against impressive landscapes.
This second part begins with the cereal
harvest and a visit to a large fodder
drying company in Brittany, in the very
north-west of France. The film shows a
wide range of agricultural machines
working in the field and takes you on a
trip to other regions of France. One of
the highlights is the wheat harvest
with one of the world’s largest combine
harvesters in front of the vineyards of
Champagne, in addition to a visit to a
dairy farm in the French-speaking
province of Quebec in Canada.
